This class is to investigate the artificial
life and bioart with multilateral interpretations and approaches related to
new media in art, technology and culture. In the class, we are trying to
find out how major and critical terms in media studies apply biotechnology
in terms of artificial life and bioart. Artistic experiments, technologists’
approaches and other ambiguous researchers’ experimental aesthetics
are discussed in the study. Furthermore, we will focus on transdisciplinary
researches beyond multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary studies. While
the class is based on textbooks, we will expand the content following each
researcher's interest using footnotes and bibliographies.
